Halloween is right around the corner, which means attending parties and events that require a costume. When struggling with sleep apnea, the idea of creating an elaborate outfit might seem impossible, especially if it requires you to stay up late to make it. Instead of forgoing essential sleep, consider something simpler that aligns with how you feel – tired – and is easy to pull together.

Tired Mom

All you have to do is wear your pajamas, put your hair in curlers (or look as if you just rolled out of bed), stick tissues in your pockets, attach a bottle to your clothes, and grab a coffee cup. Feel free to also wear slippers and comfortable socks. If you want to add another element, carry around your child’s baby doll as if it were real.

Ghost

It can be as simple as taking a bedsheet and cutting two holes in it for your eyes before putting it on. If you want, you can add other white accessories (i.e., hat, bowtie, etc.) to jazz up the costume. At any point throughout the night, you can always sit back and grab a snooze. No one will know the difference!

Sleeping Beauty

While you might think you need a ball gown to pull this off, you can opt for pink velvet pajamas or a nightgown, an eye mask, and a small tiara. If you prefer a different princess, you can swap out pink clothing for red and carry a small apple so others will know you are Snow White.

Zombie Sleepwalker

Find an old pair of pajamas that you can “tatter” and make your hair look as if you just tumbled out of bed. If you have makeup that can help you achieve the zombie look, that will just add a bit more to the overall costume.

Mr. Sandman

This outfit will be a hit among partygoers. All you need is some kind of silver clothing (i.e., pajamas, shirt, pants, etc.), small LED strand lights you can tape to yourself, and glitter makeup. If you carry around a small pouch of glitter, you can sprinkle it on others as well. You might even consider carrying a small music box to help lull others to sleep.

There are countless ideas you can choose from when trying to pick the right costume for this year’s Halloween. With minimal effort, you can still have fun and get the sleep you desperately need.
